Colorado Energy Audit FAQs:

How long does the energy audit take?

Typically 2 to 4 hours, depending on home size and complexity.

Are audits really free?

In many cases, yes. Local utility and government incentives often cover the full cost of an audit. We will confirm eligibility and help you navigate the process.

Where are the air leakage points in an attic?

Air leakage in an attic comes into your conditioned space through many areas in the attic floor. The most prominent of these areas are where your ceiling drywall meets wall framing members called "top plates".

As the drywall butts up to framing members, this unsealed gap allows outside air movement from your unconditioned attic space straight into wall cavities, quickly affecting the temperature and comfort of your home.

Other main points of air leakage in your attic come from the electrical wiring holes for fans, light switches, recessed ceiling lights (can lighting), and bath fans.

All of these points of air leakage are air sealed by Ascend using two-part closed cell spray foam.

What makes a certified audit different?

Certified audits not only provide a detailed evaluation but also unlock program rebate funds to help pay for recommended efficiency upgrades.

Can this help a commercial property?

Yes. We audit both residential and commercial buildings, large or small, helping you achieve efficiency and budget goals.

Affordable – Actionable – Long-Term Savings

An energy audit with Ascend Construction is designed to give you clear, actionable results at an affordable cost. In many cases, homeowners pay little to nothing for the assessment because it is often covered by utility or government programs. The real value lies in the detailed roadmap you receive, which shows you how to reduce energy waste and lower your monthly bills for years to come.

Unlike a quick check from a contractor, our audits look at the whole home. We help you understand how insulation, air leakage, heating, cooling, and ventilation all work together to affect comfort and efficiency. This whole-house approach gives you confidence that every recommendation is based on measurable results.
